On 19th March, 1915, the 2nd Gloucestershire battalion of 81 Brigade, 27th Division left their billets in Dickebusch and relieved the 1st Argylle & Sutherland Highlanders in nearby trenches at New Farm where they remained until relieved on 23rd March. James Dowden died from wounds on 26th March and it is likely that he was wounded during this period in the line. |
